Taiyuan, China — November 16, 2025 — The inaugural Artificial Intelligence and Science Communication Forum, co-hosted by Shanxi Agricultural University and the Shanxi Association of Experts and Scholars, convened in Taiyuan, bringing together over one hundred distinguished scholars, industry leaders, and international representatives. Under the theme “Building an Integrated Innovation Ecosystem Across Industry, Academia, Research, and Application to Empower the Future of Intelligent Communication,” the forum served as a strategic platform to explore forward-looking approaches to science communication in the AI era, injecting new technological momentum into Shanxi’s high-quality development agenda.

Intelligent Communication Research Institute & Lilac Think Tank Launched
During the opening session, Shanxi Agricultural University officially inaugurated its Intelligent Communication Research Institute and launched the Lilac Think Tank. Together, these initiatives aim to accelerate AI-enabled communication research, strengthen industry–academia-research collaboration, and support evidence-based policymaking and innovation across the province.
Li Fuzhong of Shanxi Agricultural University highlighted that the institute will focus on developing intelligent communication technologies tailored to agricultural applications, while the Lilac Think Tank will establish a cross-disciplinary intelligence network to support policymaking and industry innovation.
Mr. Mok Yeow Fay Rayman, Chairman of Bilingual Publishing Group, praised Shanxi’s approach as “a replicable blueprint for nationwide collaborative innovation across industry, academia, and research.”


Launch of the Journal Artificial Intelligence and Science Communication
A key highlight of the forum was the official launch of the peer-reviewed, open-access journal Artificial Intelligence and Science Communication. Mr. Mok emphasized that the journal will serve as an international platform for cutting-edge AI technologies and applied science communication practices, committed to academic rigor, editorial excellence, and global scholarly engagement. A strategic cooperation agreement was signed with partnering institutions to foster long-term development and international impact.


Editorial board appointments were formally recognized by Sun Hongfeng, Executive Secretary-General of the International Academician Federation Working Committee of the China International Association for Promotion of Science and Technology, and Wang Zhiming, General Manager of Bilingual Publishing Group. Editor-in-Chief Prof. Li Fuzhong reaffirmed the journal’s mission: “We are dedicated to upholding the highest academic standards and building a globally influential brand in AI-driven science communication.”


AI-Driven Rural Empowerment: The Lilac Action Initiative
The forum also launched the Lilac Communication Action for AI-Empowered Shanxi Specialty Agriculture, under the theme “Let Intelligent Communication Illuminate Rural Vitality.” The initiative leverages AI-enabled communication tools to enhance brand identity and market positioning for local agricultural products—including herbal teas, aged vinegar, and millet—through “One Village, One Brand” communication models. AI-generated personalized content will play a central role in strengthening brand storytelling and market reach.

Experts and scholars engaged in substantive discussions on emerging strategies for intelligent communication, providing actionable insights and diverse perspectives.

Shanxi’s continued efforts demonstrate that intelligent communication is becoming a strategic bridge between tradition and modernity, and between local identity and global visibility. With the development of platforms such as the Lilac Think Tank and the Intelligent Communication Research Institute, Shanxi is positioned to cultivate a differentiated competitive edge and contribute technological strength to China’s broader modernization agenda.
